This drill provides a means of practicing several types of kicks on both the right and left sides, as well as stance changes, pursuit, cover, and balance.

Technical Details:

Starting in a left neutral bow, execute a right ball kick coming down into a right neutral bow. Now execute a right foot replacement roundhouse kick coming down into a cross stance. Execute a right rear heel kick coming down in a rear cross stance. Turning to your left, execute a spinning left rear heel kick coming down in a left neutral bow. Deliver a left foot replacement knife edge kick to the knee and come down into a left cross stance.

Cover. Now perform the exact same series of movements but from the opposite side.

Starting in a right neutral bow, execute a left ball kick coming down into a left neutral bow. Now execute a left foot replacement roundhouse kick coming down into a cross stance. Execute a left rear heel kick coming down in a rear cross stance. Turning to your right, execute a spinning right rear heel kick coming down in a right neutral bow. Deliver a right foot replacement knife edge kick to the knee and come down into a right cross stance.

Cover. You should now be in the exact same place and position you started the drill from.

Additional Notes :
  • It is vital that you stay in your proper stance throughout this drill. If you straighten your legs you will very likely lose your balance.
  • Keep a liner path of travel. As stated above, you should end this drill in the same position and location you started it.
  • It's easy to rush through this drill. Go as fast as possible without compromising form and accuracy.
  • Visualize your targets and keep the kicks sharp. Remember that a good kick should come back at least as fast as it goes out.
