FOOT REPLACEMENT ROUNDHOUSE KICK |
This kick is snapping horizontal kick used when kicking vertical targets.
|
|
|
Technical Details: |
From the neutral bow position, the trailing foot comes forward and plants next to the lead foot. The lead leg is raised as the hip rotates so that the leg is in a horizontal kicking plane with the knee at a height just slightly above the target. The kick is executed by snapping the foot forward in the horizontal plane with the ball of the foot presented for the strike.

Additional Notes : |
- Just like the ball kick, the power from this kick comes from the snap; in essence, the roundhouse kick is a horizontal ball kick.
- Sifu suggested that I practice the kick imagining that I am kicking over a flat table.
- It should be noted that when that rear foot comes forward, up until the point in which kicking leg is lifted, the weight is evenly distributed over the balls of the feet, maintaining the balance of the neutral bow stance and allowing for the option to move in different direction should you choose to do so.
