Of the CDs listed here in this area, some of them are music but most of them are audio books or audio programs that I have used or reviewed in an effort to increase personal intelligence, ability and awareness. How does this relate to martial arts? The answer to that questions lies in the reason of the person asking it.
The primary system I study is I.K.C.A. Kenpo and for me, it is a way for me to increase the strength of the ever present personal tripod of stability: the Physical, the Mental, and the Spiritual. Everyone has their own reasons for studying their chosen art. Some study and achieve stability in one of these areas and some will experience stability in all of these areas, sometimes without even realizing it. Whatever your reasons for studying, some of the personal development items listed herein may indeed help you to increase focus and concentration, understanding and realization, or just some personal verification for your own belief system that will allow you to continue on with confidence.
Normally I might recommend something in the opening pages. Since there is such a broad spectrum of personality types and study habits out there, I hesitate to really recommend any one item so broadly. However, if you are at all familiar with visualization, there is one CD in particular that you might be interested in. I actually know the person that created this program and his name is Marty Josey. He is a fellow Kenpoist studying the same system that I am and has created an audio CD that will take you through some guided imagery to help you accomplish your martial arts goals. Listening to Marty's CD, Meditative Journeys for the Martial Artist, was a unique experience for me as I have never before used guided imagery that was specifically designed for the martial artist. Check it out! I think you will like it.
